BIO
A Musical Journey
Joie Taylor is a passionate Musician and a talented instrumentalist. Based in Maui,HI Joie Taylor has a storied history of live performances, musical arrangements, and professional recording sessions. With a professional career in Atlanta,GA, Ithaca, NY, India, and Maui she has toured the US and Europe. A jazz foundation as an undergraduate music minor with Clark Atlanta University Jazz Orchestra founded by Dizzy Gillespie with all completely original scores instilled in her with strong technique, reading, ear, passion and soul of Jazz. As a member of the CAU Jazz Orchestra she toured Europe and played the following jazz festivals in the year 2000: The Hague, Montreux, Jazz Vienne, Paris, Brussels, Rome and Florence. In addition as orchestra member she was in concert with Nancy WIlson, Gladys Night, Lou Rawls, Lilo Shifffron, and James Moody.
Since then as a independent musician in ensemble she has been in concert with grammy winning and nominated artists including Mauisiki Scales and the Common Ground, Kebbi Williams, Javon Jackson, John Cruz, Delfayo Marsalis, Samite, Larry Coryell, Phillip Harper, Roy Ayers and in ensembles at Cornell University, her graduate school Alma Mata, supporting, Donald Byrd, and Joshua Redman.
She has been a featured musician at the Blue Note Hawaii, as well as in the Maui Jazz and Blues Festival 2016, and Jazz Maui Festival 2018, 2019, and 2020 along with award winning musicians Benny Uyetake, Rock Hendricks, Mike Lewis, Sheryl Renee, and LaFrae Sci.
